IBM May Delay Introduction of PowerPC Computer: International Business Machines Corp. may delay introduction of the computers until early 1995 to coincide with the release of a new version of OS/2, the operating system software necessary to control the basic functions of the computers, a source close to the company said. A version of OS/2 geared toward IBM’s PowerPC-based PCs isn’t scheduled to be released until the middle of next year. Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM previously had said it would introduce the computers by the end of the year. A spokeswoman wouldn’t say when the machines would be released. PowerPC News, a newsletter distributed through the Internet, reported that the three PowerPC-based machines would be delayed until February.
