Here’s the lineup for Showtime’s “Directed By” series, week by week:
“Texan”
Sunday at 10 p.m.
Directed by Treat Williams. Starring Dabney Coleman, Dana Delany, Charles Durning and Brian Doyle Murray, with a cameo by Williams. David Mamet penned this mystery about an ex-fighter pilot who suspects his beautiful young wife of shady dealings after he learns she’s withdrawn a huge sum of money from her bank account.
“On Hope”
Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
Directed by JoBeth Williams. Starring Annette O’Toole and Mercedes Ruehl, with a cameo by Williams. Lynn Mamet, David’s sister, wrote this poignant drama, based on her short story, about a friendship between two distinctively different women.
“Leslie’s Folly”
Oct. 9 at 10 p.m.
Directed by Kathleen Turner. Starring Anne Archer, Charles Durning, Mary Kay Place, John Shea, with a cameo by Turner. Lynn Mamet also wrote this script, based on her short story, about a woman with three children who must cope with an unplanned pregnancy.
“Override”
Oct. 16 at 10 p.m.
Directed by Danny Glover. Starring Erika Alexander, Emily Lloyd and Lou Diamond Philips. Dianne Houston penned the script of this futuristic drama about an unwed mother of two who drives a robot-controlled tractor-trailer truck. Her life changes dramatically when she meets a handsome fellow driver.
“Partners”
Oct. 23 at 10 p.m.
Directed by Peter Weller. Starring Graham Beckel, Griffin Dunne, Marg Helgenberger, Joseph Maher, with a cameo by Weller. Weller and Ebbe Roe Smith penned the adaptation of Tom McGuane’s short story about a rising younger lawyer whose career is placed in jeopardy when he meets a former lover. Nominated for the 1993 Academy Award for best short subject.
“The Gift”
Oct. 30 at 10 p.m.
Directed by Laura Dern. Starring Bonnie Bedelia, Peter Horton, Diane Ladd, Mary Kay Place, Isabella Rossellini and Mary Steenburgen. Emily Tracy scripted this drama, based on an original story by Tracy and Dern, which focuses on one day in the life of a woman suffering from the breakup of a relationship with her boyfriend.
