Chlorine Contributes to Ozone Depletion

I find it astonishing that you were able to devote so much space to the chlorine issue (“No More Green Hair” by Joan Bolton, Sept. 25) without so much as a single mention of the most important argument against using chlorine in swimming pools and drinking water.

According to many scientific studies, worldwide chlorine production is the single largest contributing factor to the depletion of the ozone layer. Green hair and burning eyes are minor issues compared to the ecological disaster that chlorine is causing to our planet.
