KOCE Channel 50 has been awarded a $350,044 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Public Telecommunications Facilities Program. KOCE, Orange County’s public television station, already has raised the grant’s required 60-40 match, bringing the total to $583,407. The money will be used to replace the station’s 23-year-old cameras and other equipment, all of it expected to be operational by summer 1995. In 1990, KOCE received a $750,000 Department of Commerce grant with which it purchased a new, stronger transmitter.
