A Halloween Treat-- and a Few Tricks

You can go into the Hollywood Wax Museum any time of the year and it will give you chills. The cold, motionless yet familiar faces in the catacombs of the museum may give you the creeps--but just wait till you see what’s in store for Halloween. Imagine the wax figures of some of the most notorious serial killers gathered around you--Hannibal Lector, Freddy of “Nightmare on Elm Street,” Jason from “Friday the 13th” (and a few of the classics thrown in for good measure, such as Dracula, Frankenstein and the Phantom of the Opera)--and you’ve got a chamber of horrors as frightening as any haunted house or cemetery tour.

Now through Halloween, the museum of monsters is enhanced with special effects and a few live costumed characters as well. The hours are 10 a.m.-midnight Friday-Sunday; on Halloween, hours are extended to 2 a.m., and admission is half price from 6 p.m.-midnight (regular admission is $8.95; seniors, $7.50; children 6-12, $6.95; under 6, free (tricks and treats are included). For information, (213) 462-5991. 6767 Hollywood Blvd.
