The Simpson Case: A daily update : Trial Highlights
A look at some of the key events in the O.J. Simpson murder trial on Thursday:
* Summary: After an unusually acerbic session between a prosecutor and a prospective jurors, defense attorneys accused prosecutors of treating black jury candidates differently than others. Government lawyers dismissed that charge as public relations work by the defense and said they were treating prospective jurors fairly.
* Court action: Superior Court Judge Lance A. Ito heard arguments in the defense’s latest attack on evidence seized from Simpson’s Ford Bronco, which was burglarized while in police custody. Ito did not rule, however.
* Outside the court: A lawyer for Simpson warned that any attempt to distribute purloined copies of a videotape of Simpson’s 1985 marriage to Nicole Simpson will be met be a lawsuit. “Such an act, in addition to being illegal . . . is also morally offensive, repugnant and irresponsible,” said Anthony Michael Glassman, a lawyer for Simpson.
