California IN BRIEF : SAN JACINTO : Motorcyclist Fleeing Police Kills Himself
A motorcyclist fleeing police suddenly stopped and fatally shot himself, authorities said. The 18-year-old Hemet man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was carrying a note indicating he planned to kill himself on Halloween, said police Sgt. Dennis Love. The motorcycle and the gun involved had been reported stolen in Orange County, Love said. The man fled when police approached him Saturday afternoon, said Sgt. Kevin Fitzpatrick. During the chase the man took off his helmet and threw it toward his pursuers. He then stopped, pulled out a gun, and as officers drew their guns, shot himself in the head, said Fitzpatrick.
