Paramount’s Gate

The photograph in the upper right-hand corner of the first page of Aug. 24’s Calendar section is, indeed, the historic Paramount gate.

However, it is not the “Melrose Avenue Entrance” as stated in the accompanying text. The entrance on Melrose was constructed by the studio in 1982. The original (and historic) gate shown in your photograph was on Marathon Street on property now enclosed by the Paramount lot.
