Our New Image: Feel-Good Stories
Is the sports section printing gentler, fuzzier stories to fill space? Is this the result of the sports strikes?
Once a year, I read the sports pages for horse racing information before the Kentucky Derby, but my husband suggested I read Chris Dufresne’s article, “A Grayshirt Season?” (Oct. 19) about Chuck Roseberry because I am dyslexic. Yesterday, he recommended I read “There Otter Be a Way” (Oct. 26) on the front page of the sports section. I cried while reading both stories. My husband admitted his eyes misted up while reading about the orphaned otters.
Is this a plot to get men in touch with their feminine side? What will become of our jock-men if you continue to expose them to these docile fill-in stories?
Thank you for exposing my sensitive, compassionate mate.
