Hits Magazine Tip of the Week
Amid all the turmoil in the executive ranks of the music industry, Columbia Records Group Chairman Don Ienner has been dramatically changing the look of his leadership team. Ienner recently named former Virgin U.S. heads Jeff Ayeroff and Jordan Harris to head a new West Coast label for Columbia, following the collapse of the duo’s impending deal at the rapidly changing Warner Bros. Ienner has also hired former Elektra executive Jon Leshay for an East Coast senior marketing post, with emphasis on alternative music, while former Geffen A&R; man John David Kalodner will join the label in a similar post on the West Coast.
