Ayala 18, Chaminade 14--Ayala scored on three of its first four possessions and had a fourth-quarter goal-line stand at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Bulldogs (10-1) opened the scoring on a four-yard run by Rocky O’Brien three plays after O’Brien recovered a fumble on the Eagles’ 15-yard line. Ayala built an 18-0 second-quarter lead before Chaminade (7-4) came back.
Tight end Danny Dworsky caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Racius late in the second quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Ayala’s Rashad Clemons fumbled and Chaminade’s Jeff Olsen returned it 15 yards to cut the difference to 18-14.
Chaminade had a first down at the Ayala six-yard line late in the game but could not score. The second half was scoreless.
