PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Lewis Expected Back on Sunday
Cornerback Albert Lewis, who has been sidelined the last two games because of a sprained right knee, expects to be back on the practice field this week and back in action Sunday at the Coliseum against the Steelers.
Not so certain to return is fellow cornerback Lionel Washington, who missed last Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints because of a bruised calf muscle. More should be known about Washington’s condition later in the week.
If neither Lewis nor Washington are able to play Sunday, the Raiders will again use James Trapp at right cornerback.
Center Don Mosebar is limping on a twisted ankle, suffered on Sunday. But when Coach Art Shell tried to send in Dan Turk to relieve Mosebar, the Raider center waved Turk off. How much mobility Mosebar will have against the Steelers remains to be seen.
Also hurting is quarterback Jeff Hostetler, but that’s a weekly story. Hostetler went into Sunday’s game with three jammed toes and added a twisted neck to his long list of ailments.
Hostetler ignored his medical problems and completed 22 of 28 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns.
Asked afterward how his three injured toes felt, Hostetler replied, “Snap and crackle were pretty good, but pop was pretty sore today.”

With their ticket office closed Thursday afternoon because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Raiders will ask the league to extend the blackout deadline 24 hours, giving them until Friday at 1 p.m. to sell out the Coliseum for Sunday’s Raider-Steeler game and televise it locally. The ticket office will be open Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
