The Valley College football team has accepted an invitation to play in the Orange County Bowl against Rancho Santiago, Southern California’s top ranked junior college team. The game will be Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium.
Valley (9-1) is ranked 16th in the nation by JC Grid-Wire. Rancho Santiago (9-1) is ranked sixth.
Moorpark College is the second area team to accept a bowl bid.
Moorpark (8-2) will play Cerritos (7-3) in the Cerritos Pontiac GMC Strawberry Bowl at College Stadium in Norwalk at 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 3.

All 10 Moorpark College wrestlers who competed in the Southern California regional on Sunday qualified for the state tournament Dec. 2-3 at Rio Hondo College in Whittier.
The Raiders who will participate in the state tournament are Norman Toy (118 pounds), Pejman Daweshnia (126), John Jimenez (134 pounds), Tim Bonebright (142), Richard Preciado (150), Kyle Plummer (158), Jeremy Pratt (167), Dan Burdis (177), Jason Lewis (190) and Mark Smith (heavyweight). Jimenez was 3-0 in the regional.

Glendale College (14-0-5) is seeded third in the eight-team Southern California men’s soccer regional and will play host to No. 6 San Bernardino Valley (12-4-3) in a first-round game Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Vaqueros are the Western State Conference champions.
The winner of the Glendale-San Bernardino game will advance to a second-round game at 1 p.m. Saturday against the winner of the San Diego Mesa-Rancho Santiago game. The winners will play in the state championships Dec. 3-4 in Sacramento.
In the women’s regional, Moorpark (9-3-4) has advanced to the Southern California Regional Final against Cypress (16-0-2) Saturday afternoon.

The Moorpark College women’s volleyball team will play at Mt. San Antonio College at 7 p.m. today in the first round of the Southern California playoffs.
Moorpark (13-5) finished second in the Northern Division of the Western State Conference. Mt. SAC (15-3) placed second to undefeated Cerritos in the South Coast Conference.

Pierce College cornerback Ron McKelvey was at school Monday after some scary moments in the Brahmas’ 57-51 loss to Glendale on Saturday.
McKelvey, an all-state selection last season, suffered a neck injury late in the fourth quarter and was transported by ambulance to Glendale Adventist Medical Center.
Pierce Coach Bill Norton said that McKelvey was released from the hospital late Saturday night after undergoing several tests, including a CAT scan.
