Dancer’s Gate Wins Aqueduct Feature With Big Rally
NEW YORK — Dancer’s Gate, seemingly beaten with a furlong to go, launched a furious rally and won the feature race at Aqueduct by a nose on Tuesday.
The winner carried 119 pounds and was ridden by Frank Alvarado.
Manila Lila, 117, was runnerup in the 6-horse field, under a ride by Jorge Chavez. It was another 1 1/4-lengths to Miss Fix It.
The victory was the second straight and fifth in 12 starts this year for Dancer’s Gate who covered 1 1/8 miles in 1:51 4-5 to earn $21,600 for D M Glory Stable.
The winner returned $8.10, $3.30 and $2.40. Manila Lila paid $3.50 and $2.50 and Miss Fix It was $2.30 to show.
