Akil Anderson
SCHOOL: Montclair Prep
SPORT: Football
YEAR: Junior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Though beset with injuries and sickness for the better part of the regular season, Anderson has gained 1,160 yards in 121 carries and scored 15 of the team’s 25 rushing touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back missed four games and more than half of two others because of a knee injury, a concussion and a bout of mononucleosis.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Anderson rushed for 424 yards and four touchdowns in the Mounties’ 50-8 rout of Big Bear in a Southern Section Division X quarterfinal. The mark equals an area record set by Darren Rogers of Agoura in 1975. Anderson’s carries accounted for 41 of the Mounties’ 58 offensive plays.
