OUTLOOK
McSweeney takes over for Jim Wilson, who resigned for personal reasons. McSweeney was the JV coach last season and a varsity assistant and freshman coach at Woodbridge the two previous seasons. He has a lot of rebuilding to do. Meyers, a two-year letterman, averaged 13 points and was a second-team all-league pick last season. He helped the Dolphins finish second. But there’s little else experience-wise. The Marston-Hutchins-Mandrioli trio will have to step forward and produce. They are unknowns who must become leaders. The Dolphins don’t have much size. In fact, McSweeney, a 1985 graduate of Dana Hills who played at Stanford, is the best big man in the program. He was a 6-7 forward and a two-time all-county selection. But he finds no big man to teach. The Dolphins have no one taller than 6-3. They will have to work on the boards or lose games there. McSweeney plans to make up for the lack of height by playing toward the team’s strength--quickness. Dana Hills will pressure full court and try to turn games into track meets. Inexperience might slow them at first, but McSweeney hopes the team can challenge for a playoff berth. They reached postseason play the past two years.
