OUTLOOK

The Diablos are coming. It might take another year, but they could be the team that finishes fast this season. They lack experience, but have size and raw ability. Reid has five players 6 feet 4 or taller. Moherman is the best of that group. He averaged 8.3 points as a freshman. He can handle pressure, as well, having been the Diablo quarterback the past 1 1/2 seasons. Kalklosch is the team’s top returner. He averaged 15 points and was named second-team all-league. Around those two, Reid has a lot of players who are wet behind the ears. He expects to start three sophomores and will pay a price early on. Of the group, King stands out for his name (Commander) and Burt for his size (6-4). How they will react in varsity games is yet to be seen. King saw some time on the varsity a season ago, as he was called up from the sophomore team for the final five games. Finneran is brother of Brian and Brad, who played basketball and football at Santa Margarita.

January 3 vs. Laguna Hills; 6 vs. San Clemente; 11 at Capistrano Valley; 13 at Dana Hills; 18 vs. Mater Dei; 21 vs. Trabuco Hills; 25 at San Clemente; 27 vs. Capistrano Valley.

February 3 at Dana Hills; 8 at Mater Dei; 10 at Capistrano Valley.
