Major Carriers Again Cut Fares: Prices were slashed as much as 45% for both domestic and international travel. Houston-based Continental Airlines announced fares similar to those in earlier discount plans on tickets purchased by Jan. 13 for trips departing through May 23. The new prices were quickly matched by American Airlines, United Airlines, Trans World Airlines and Northwest Airlines. Delta Air Lines said it will consider matching them on a market-by-market basis.
