The Capistrano Unified School District has gone on record against music and videotapes or computer games that depict or promote the killing of human beings, celebrate violence or desensitize children to the value of human life.
“There is an emerging body of evidence that indicates that there are links that exist between increased use by children of computerized games which simulate killing” and a lack of respect for human life, the district said in a written statement.
“The additional negative influence of music and related videotapes that promote violence or celebrate killing adds to an unhealthy environment which may lead children to accept violence as a common fact of life in society.”
