BOYS’ BASKETBALL / BREA OLINDA TOURNAMENT : Gahr’s Fourth-Quarter Run Overwhelms Troy in Title Game
Troy let a slim fourth-quarter lead get away and lost to Cerritos Gahr, 69-59, in the championship game of the Brea Olinda Progress tournament Friday night at Brea Olinda High.
The Warriors (9-6) took a one-point lead into the final quarter, but Gahr went on a 25-14 run to put away the game.
James Hampson and Jon Torres each had 12 points and Jeff Sand and Kris Green each had 10 to lead Troy.
Marcus Lemons had a game-high 22 for the Gladiators.
In the third-place game:
Rancho Buena Vista 53, Brea Olinda 50--The host Wildcats fell behind by 10 at halftime and never recovered. Sean Heredia led Brea Olinda (10-5) with 15 points.
In other tournament games:
Compton Centennial 72, La Habra 64--Corey Holbert had 17 points and Justin Marshall added 15 for La Habra (6-8), which finished eighth in the tournament.
La Canada Flintridge St. Francis 75, Rancho Alamitos 60--Senior Randy Parrish scored 17 points and teammate Juan Toscanini added 14 points for the Vaqueros (6-8) in the ninth-place game.
