Peter A. Weston; Longtime Resident of Agoura
Peter A. Weston, a longtime Agoura resident, succumbed recently to a sudden illness and has died. He was 59.
Finance director for Valencia-based C. S. L. Lighting Inc., Weston moved with his second wife, Shirley, from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Agoura in 1970. An avid baseball and basketball fan, Weston was at one time considered a professional baseball prospect when he pitched for Duquesne University in the early 1950s.
After a shoulder injury, Weston opted to set aside hopes for a possible baseball career and instead chose to finish his studies at Duquesne, graduating in 1959 with a degree in business administration.
“When he injured his shoulder, he decided that he would be better off pursuing a career in business instead,” said Weston’s son, Mark of Thousand Oaks. “He was a pretty well-rounded guy. He loved sports--especially teams from UCLA and, of course, the Dodgers.”
Mark Weston said his father, who specialized in corporate accounting during his 30-year business career, was also an active member of the Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village where he taught adult Bible study classes.
“He was a very religious man and enjoyed the aspect of teaching at the church very much,” Mark Weston said.
Weston is survived by his wife, Shirley, son Mark and a daughter, Karen Weston of Agoura Hills. He is also survived by a brother, Joe of Ohio.
A showing has been scheduled for Tuesday night at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary. Services will be held at noon the following day at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village.
