LOS ANGELES : The Golden Choices
The Golden Globe Awards, the increasingly influential film prizes of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., will be presented Saturday. The Globes presage potential choices for the Oscars, which will be awarded March 27.
Films nominated for the 52nd annual drama award at the Golden Globes ceremony at a Beverly Hills hotel: “Forrest Gump,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Quiz Show,” “Nell” and “Legends of the Fall.” Nominations for best actor include Tom Hanks for “Forrest Gump” and John Travolta for his role in “Pulp Fiction.”
Unlike the Academy Awards, the Globes also honor television programs, with CBS leading the pack this year with 15 nominations. Its series “Picket Fences” garnered five.
