EDS Acquires Multimedia Production Firm: California-based Varitel Video specializes in applying analog and digital technology in film, videotape and computer graphics. Its clients include major film studios, TV networks and advertising agencies. General Motors Corp.’s Electronic Data Systems Corp., based in Dallas, said it acquired the privately held company to expand EDS’ multimedia operations. The acquisition will let EDS take audio and video footage from movies and TV and modify it. Varitel’s 115 employees in Los Angeles and San Francisco will be hired by EDS.
