Darrick Lucero has been hired as the Marina boys’ volleyball coach, Athletic Director Larry Doyle said.
Lucero replaces Jason Bilbruck, who coached the girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams at Marina the last two seasons.
Lucero coached at Los Angeles Loyola two seasons, leading the Cubs to the Mission League championship and the Division I semifinals last season. Lucero graduated from Ocean View High in 1987 and UCLA in ’93.

Edison’s Bryan Lachappelle, the Sunset League defensive player of the year, orally committed to San Diego State, he said Tuesday.
Lachappelle, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back, was a first-team Times all-county selection.
