Minnesota financier Irwin Jacobs has sued Fran Tarkenton, claiming the Hall of Fame quarterback misled investors about the financial condition of his Atlanta computer software company.

Jacobs claims a $13.9-million investment loss and accuses Tarkenton, his frequent business partner, of committing securities fraud and breaching his contract as head of KnowledgeWare, Inc.

Baylor has promoted interim Coach Harry Miller to the head coaching job and given him a five-year contract.

Miller, 43, took over the program on Nov. 28 when Darrel Johnson was fired after the NCAA alleged rules violations in his program on Nov. 16. The Bears, in the first year of a two-year self-imposed probation, are 6-10 overall, 1-3 in the Southwest Conference.
