Bowl Fever Dents S.D. Arts Events
Early word on the San Diego cultural scene has the Chargers’ Super Bowl appearance putting something of a damper on Sunday’s scheduled performances.
About 200 ticket holders for the San Diego Opera’s matinee of “Russalka” have chosen to exchange them for another performance. General director Ian Campbell has pledged to announce the game’s score from the Civic Theatre stage during the second intermission.
The San Diego Repertory Theater has canceled the 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. performances of “Keely and Du” due to poor ticket sales. The theater’s preview of Hamlet will be pushed back to 8 p.m., to give fans a chance to watch the whole game.
More than 150 requests for exchanges last week for the performances of “Full Gallop” and “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Old Globe Theater have prompted theater officials to offer those on hand a voucher good for one ticket to the upcoming productions of “Time of My Life” or “Dancing at Lughnasa.” If the Chargers win, the voucher is good for two tickets.
