Unheated Classrooms
Winter storms are sweeping through Los Angeles, and like hundreds of other classroom teachers in Los Angeles, my room is unheated and my students are cold.
I cannot expect the citizens of California to have the human decency to provide students in South Los Angeles with a heated classroom--it costs too much money.
But I’ll settle for the following deal. Let’s turn off the heat in the state Capitol. Think of the money we’ll save. If my students must labor in a frigid environment, why don’t we expect Gov. Pete Wilson and the Legislature to do the same?
