WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Thompson’s 25 Lead USC Rout
Tina Thompson scored 25 points and Rashida Jeffery added 14 in the second half to help No. 20 USC to a 90-71 Pacific 10 victory over California on Thursday night at Berkeley.
The Trojans (11-4, 4-3), who led, 39-34, at halftime, used a 21-12 run to take a 60-46 lead with 11:39 to play. The Golden Bears (6-9, 1-5) got no closer than 14 points afterward.
Patty Czepiec led Cal with 21 points.
No. 4 Stanford 88, UCLA 49--Bobbie Kelsey, Anita Kaplan and Kate Paye scored 14 points apiece and the Cardinal (15-1, 6-0) won its 13th consecutive game by holding the Bruins (7-9, 2-5) to 15 points in the first half en route to victory at Palo Alto.
UCLA was led by Kisa Hughes with 11 points and nine rebounds.
