Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Doctor Amputates the Wrong Foot

Before he went into surgery, Willie King joked with the hospital staff to be sure they knew which foot they were going to amputate. They got it wrong. King, a 51-year-old diabetic, was listed in good condition at Tampa’s University Community hospital, where his good left foot was amputated instead of his gangrenous right one. The hospital said it is investigating the mistake.
