Trial Highlights : THE O.J. SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL
Some of the key events Wednesday in the O.J. Simpson murder trial:
* SUMMARY: Detective Tom Lange spent the entire day on the witness stand, his seventh day of testimony so far. Superior Court Judge Lance A. Ito also considered two efforts by witnesses to refuse prosecution requests for their phone records, and Simpson attorney Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. raised another issue of potential juror misconduct.
* WITNESSES: Under another day of cross-examination, Lange admitted police and others had made some mistakes in the Simpson investigation, but he did not back up defense claims that the killing was a drug murder aimed at Faye Resnick, a friend of Nicole Brown Simpson. Lange described the murders as a “rage killing.”
* COMING UP: Lange is scheduled to return to the stand this morning. Prosecutors have said that when he is finished, they plan to call Goldman’s stepmother, followed by Los Angeles Police Detective Mark Fuhrman.
“This appeared to me to be an overkill or rage killing. In my mind, it appeared to be motivated by rage and not narcotics-related.”
--Detective Tom Lange
