OXNARD : Youth Club Launches Carnival at Mall
The Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard is sponsoring a four-day carnival at the Centerpoint Mall to raise money for youth programs.
The carnival, which will feature a Ferris wheel and an assortment of children’s rides as well as some new rides from England, begins today and will run through Sunday. It will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. today and Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Abe Oliveras, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club, said the managers of the Centerpoint Mall on Saviers Road in south Oxnard allowed the carnival to take place there free of charge.
“We want people to attend, have some fun, and help the Boys & Girls Club,” he said.
The club is hoping to raise $10,000 for its main facility in downtown Oxnard and its two after-school programs at Lemonwood and Driffill schools, Oliveras said.
