VENTURA : Pier to Reopen With a Celebration
The Ventura Pier, heavily damaged during the January storms, will reopen Saturday with a morning celebration, “Coffee on the Pier.”
The public has been invited to the celebration from 8 a.m. until noon. The first 100 people will receive free pier posters, courtesy of the Pier Into the Future steering committee.
Cappuccino, scones, muffins, cookies, popcorn and hot dogs will be sold, and a booth will be set up offering pier planks, T-shirts, caps and sweat shirts for purchase.
The pier has been closed since the beginning of January. Storm damage forced the replacement of 60 piles, and 30 others had to be reattached.
The cost of repairs is estimated at $450,000.
Most of the money will probably come from the federal government.
