PREP ROUNDUP : Trabuco Hills Golfers Knock Off San Clemente
Trabuco Hills edged previously unbeaten San Clemente, 212-214, in a South Coast League golf match Thursday at Coto de Caza.
Jordan Woffinden shot three-over-par 39 and sixth-man Matt Steele shot 40 for the Mustangs (7-2, 3-1).
Greg Johnson shot 37 for San Clemente (6-1, 1-1), but no other Triton player broke 40. Mike Zapel, the Tritons’ No. 1 player, shot 46.
In another South Coast League match:
Mater Dei 210, Mission Viejo 237--Scott Jordan shot a school-record four-under 32 at Santa Ana CC for Mater Dei (7-4, 2-1).
In the Garden Grove League:
Rancho Alamitos 207, Whittier Christian 210--Senior Greg Balliet shot a school-record one-under 34 at Willowick for Rancho Alamitos (5-3, 1-1).
In the Sea View League:
El Toro 403, Woodbridge 408--Jesse Hayden shot a two-over 74 at the El Toro Marine Base for El Toro (7-2, 3-0).
Santa Margarita 200, Newport Harbor 210--Steve Wagner was medalist for Santa Margarita (7-0, 2-0), shooting two-over 38 at Big Canyon. Morgan Anderson shot 40 for Newport Harbor (5-2, 2-2).
In nonleague golf:
Tustin 207, Cypress 208--Jimmy Lee shot one-under 34 and John Ching 37 at Cypress Golf Club for Tustin. Eric Wang shot 36 for the Centurions.
In nonleague baseball:
Esperanza 11, Bellflower St. John Bosco 7--Jeremy Viscusi had two doubles, three runs batted in and two runs scored to lead Esperanza (5-4-1).
In South Coast League girls’ gymnastics:
Brea Olinda 171, Capistrano Valley 160.6--Erica Castillo won all five events for Brea-Olinda (2-0).
In Garden Grove League softball:
La Quinta 3, Santiago 0--Kelly McLaughlin (5-2) gave up two hits, one walk and struck out 10 for La Quinta (6-2-1, 2-1).
Pacifica 3, Bolsa Grande 1--Amanda Freed (6-0) gave up one run, one hit and struck out 11 for third-ranked Pacifica (10-1, 3-0).
In nonleague softball:
Buena Park 3, Downey Pius X 0--Sophomore Alicia Davison pitched a no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none, for Buena Park (5-4-1).
Mission Viejo 2, Newport Harbor 1--Jodee Favello went three for three and scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning for Mission Viejo (6-5-1). Favello reached third on a two-out triple. Newport Harbor is 5-4-1.
Villa Park 4, Troy 0--Brandee McArthur pitched a no-hitter, striking out 15, for visiting Villa Park (9-4).
