PREP ROUNDUP : Lee’s Round Sparks Villa Park in Golf
Dave Lee made three birdies and shot a season-low par 36 at the Green River Orange golf course, helping Villa Park to a 204-205 victory over Canyon in Century League play Wednesday.
Villa Park improved to 9-4, 4-1. Canyon is 2-2 in league.
In the Garden Grove League:
Rancho Alamitos 214, Garden Grove 247--Greg Balliet shot three-over 35 at Willowick for Rancho Alamitos (7-3, 3-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 199, Laguna Beach 235--Peter Krutzik shot one-over 36 for Estancia (8-3, 5-0) at Costa Mesa.
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 190, Irvine 214--Kelly Craig shot par 36 and Greg Pittenger shot 37 for Santa Margarita (10-0, 4-0) at Rancho San Joaquin.
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 203, Mission Viejo 224--Sophomore Mike Zapel was the medalist for San Clemente (8-1, 3-1), shooting two-over 38 at Mission Viejo Country Club.
In nonleague golf:
Cypress 196, Westminster 197--Eric Wang shot par 35 and Ryan Choura shot four-over 39 at Meadowlark for Cypress (11-4-1). Wang has been medalist in 11 of Cypress’ 16 matches.
Valencia 385, Diamond Bar 418--James Wooley shot two-over 74 and Bruce Campbell shot 75 for host Valencia (12-1) at Alta Vista.
In Golden West League tennis:
Servite 14, Tustin 4--Mike Luciano swept in singles, 7-5, 6-0, 6-1, for Servite (11-4, 6-0). In doubles, Austin Pittman and Ali Sajadian swept, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, for the Friars.
In Orange League boys’ tennis:
Brea Olinda 18, Western 0--Ben Springer and Madhab Boddula each swept their singles sets without losing a game and the doubles team of Mark Fisher and Nimeesh Shah won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Brea Olinda (11-2, 3-0). Western is 2-12, 1-2.
Magnolia 13, Savanna 5--Son Hoang swept at singles, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, for Magnolia (8-6, 2-1).
Valencia 18, Anaheim 0--Chris Tobolski did not lose a game in singles and Andrew Lai and Dennis Ho did not lose a game in doubles for Valencia (3-6, 2-1).
In nonleague boys’ tennis:
Foothill 11, Capistrano Valley 7--Fourth-ranked Foothill (12-1) was led by Joost Hol, who swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Cameron Taylor, who swept, 6-4, 6-4, 6-0.
In Garden Grove League boys’ volleyball:
Los Amigos 3, Pacifica 1--Ape Tuato had 12 kills and Gary Hoggatt had 11 kills to lead visiting Los Amigos (3-5, 3-3). Pacifica is 2-7, 2-4.
In the Golden West League:
Servite 3, Saddleback 0--Ryan Schley had 15 kills and Christian Ponce had 27 assists as Servite (6-3, 3-0) won, 15-5, 15-11, 15-4.
Tustin 3, Westminster 0--Alan Hoang had 12 kills and three aces to lead sixth-ranked Tustin (5-1, 3-0), 15-6, 15-0, 15-8. Tim Holmes had seven kills for Westminster (5-3, 1-2).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 3, Aliso Niguel 0--Dan Styles had 13 kills and Justin Maison had 11 for No. 2 Laguna Beach (6-0, 3-0), which won, 15-5, 15-6, 15-10.
Laguna Hills 3, University 1--Jon Marshall and Chad Wronka each had 15 kills and Jamie Mann had 45 assists for Laguna Hills (6-3, 2-1), which won, 15-12, 15-12, 7-15, 15-12. Donald Chin had 16 kills and Jack Chang 14 for the Trojans (2-7, 1-2).
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 3, Edison 0--Third-ranked Fountain Valley (7-2, 2-1) swept, 15-7, 15-13, 15-5, as Chris Kostey had 14 kills and Ed Ratledge had 12. Kai Parker had 10 kills for Edison (3-4, 2-1).
Huntington Beach 3, Marina 0--Zach Montgomery had 19 kills and Evan Hook had seven digs to lead top-ranked Huntington Beach (9-0, 3-0), 15-11, 15-10, 15-11. Host Marina is 1-2 in league.
