PREP TENNIS ROUNDUP : Servite Gets Past Ocean View in Golden West Match

Mike Luciano lost his first set, 6-3, but came back to win his next two, 6-4, 6-0, to help Servite defeat Ocean View, 9-9 (73-70 on games) in a Golden West League boys’ tennis match Thursday at Servite.

Mike Giardina and Joe Ganahl won two out of their three doubles sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, for Servite (12-4, 7-0).

In another Golden West League match:

Westminster 13, Santa Ana 5--James Trinh and Hung Tran swept in doubles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, to help Westminster (1-8, 1-4) to its first victory.

In the Academy League:

St. Margaret’s 17, Oceanside Army-Navy 1--Rapheal Thurber swept his sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting St. Margaret’s (5-4, 1-2).

In the Century League:

Foothill 14, Canyon 4--Ryan Thompson won, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0, and Joost Hol won, 6-2, 6-3 6-0, for visiting Foothill (13-1, 5-0).

Orange 9, El Modena 9 (78-68)--Jason Wang won three sets at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2, for Orange (6-7, 2-2).

Villa Park 17, Santa Ana Valley 1--Ryan Hollis swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Villa Park (13-3, 4-1).

In the Empire League:

Cypress 13, Katella 5--Bobby Erickson and Chris Frost won at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for Cypress (9-2, 3-2).

In the Freeway League:

Buena Park 13, La Habra 5--Abiy Fikre won three singles sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, and Steven Ramirez and Kevin Johnson won in doubles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, for Buena Park (1-8, 1-4). La Habra is 0-5 in league.

Troy 9, Fullerton 9 (Troy wins on games, 90-83)--Francisco Villaroman won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 1 singles for Troy.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 19 2/3, Pacifica 1 1/3--Chuong Pham swept, 6-1, 6-2, 7-5 and John Bui swept, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1 for second-place La Quinta (7-3, 6-1).

Los Amigos 12 2/3, Bolsa Grande 8 1/3--Tri Ton won three sets at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, for Los Amigos (8-5, 4-2).

In the Pacific Coast League:

University 15, Aliso Niguel 3--Ross Ellis and Doug McCan each swept in singles to lead eight-ranked University (8-3, 5-0).

In the South Coast League:

Trabuco Hills 10, San Clemente 8--Nolan Cooper swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, in singles, and Mario Mikula and Bryan Heyl swept in doubles, 6-4, 7-6, 6-1, victory for Trabuco Hills (5-9, 2-2).

Mission Viejo 12, Mater Dei 6--Eduardo Kohlberg won in singles, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0, and Josh Fair and Sean Aday won in doubles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-4, for Mission Viejo (9-4, 3-1).

Los Alamitos 12, Fountain Valley 6--Ed Huang and Joe Shih swept 7-5, 6-2, 6-2, for fifth-ranked Los Alamitos (11-0, 6-0).
