PICO-UNION : Panel Seeks Changes in Rebuilding Plan
Amendments that could improve housing stock and encourage economic development are being considered for the Pico-Union 2 Redevelopment Plan, which outlines strategies for the area east of Hoover Street.
A committee of local residents and property owners is asking the Community Redevelopment Agency to spend more property tax revenues on new and refurbished housing and for rebuilding the area’s riot-damaged commercial zones.
The project area is bounded by Olympic Boulevard to the north, the Santa Monica (10) Freeway to the south, Union and Burlington avenues to the east, and Hoover Street to the west. Proposed changes also include adding the west side of Hoover to the plan.
The community is invited to the committee’s next meeting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the CRA’s Pico-Union Site Office, 1316 S. Union Ave.
