Police Arrest 3 After Downtown Chase
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Three Los Angeles County men were arrested Saturday after a short chase in a stolen car through downtown Huntington Beach, police said.
The suspects were identified as driver Thol Try, 23, and William Gomez, 21, both of Commerce and Frank Moreno, 22, of Los Angeles.
They were arrested on suspicion of auto theft and evading police, said Sgt. Les Robinson.
The incident began about 2:30 p.m. when a resident of the 100 block of 17th Street called police and said three men appeared to be stealing a car, Robinson said. A passing pedestrian scared the men and they jumped into a yellow Jeep Cherokee and sped off, followed by police, Robinson said.
After a two-minute chase through downtown, the driver lost control of the Jeep on northbound 14th Street at Pecan Avenue and skidded to a stop. The three attempted to flee on foot, and were caught by police officers, Robinson said.
