In the Century League:
Canyon 10, Orange 3--Eric Valent was three for four with two doubles and Scott Redfox had a three-run home run to lead seventh-ranked Canyon (19-4, 11-2).
Santa Ana Valley 5, Foothill 3--Johnny Garcia drove in two runs with a single in the top of the seventh for the Falcons 12-11, 6-7). Garcia also stole home in the first inning.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 14, Kennedy 2--Trent Cuevas had four hits and six RBIs for 10th-ranked El Dorado (18-6, 9-4).
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 13, Fullerton 12--Ryan Owens had a home run, double and four RBIs and pitched the final two innings to earn his third save for visiting Sonora (18-3-2, 10-2-1). Sunny Hills 7, La Habra 6--Ryan Puckett (4-2) had eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings and Jimmy McGuire got the final two outs for his second save for Sunny Hills.
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 8, Bolsa Grande 2--Craig Kuzmic hit two home runs, giving him 10 this season, for No. 4 La Quinta (22-3-1, 11-0). Kuzmic broke the school record shared by Walter Dawkins, who is playing at USC, and Jason Parsons.
Garden Grove 22, Rancho Alamitos 2--Gabe Maldanado went five for six with four RBIs and four runs scored and Greg Pines went three for five with four RBIs for Garden Grove (12-9, 8-3).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 9, Whittier Christian 4--Orange Lutheran clinched a playoff spot by beating Whittier Christian (5-7-1 in league). Che Holloway went three for four with two runs scored and Adam Cavaness (9-2) got the victory for Orange Lutheran (13-9, 9-4).
Calvary Chapel 8, Brethren Christian 2--Joe Jones had three hits and five RBIs and John Tucker (7-5) had eight strikeouts in six innings for Calvary Chapel (15-7-1, 11-1-1). Brethren Christian is 4-15, 3-10.
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 11, Savanna 4--Ryan Knuth had two home runs, a double and seven RBIs to lead Brea-Olinda (14-9, 9-4). He has three home runs this season.
Valencia 13, Magnolia 4--Phil Shipman hit a grand slam in the sixth and Eric Reynosa had three hits, including a two-run homer and a double, and four RBIs for Valencia (10-9, 8-5). Magnolia is 10-3 in league.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 7, Estancia 2--University’s Tim Blackburn, Brett Lockwood and Justin Dunning each went three for four to key a 15-hit attack by the University (14-10, 9-4).
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 9, Corona del Mar 5--Every starter had at least one hit for visiting Irvine (18-5, 12-1). David Hongslo hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Shaun Wooley had a home run and pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief for the victory for Irvine, which has a one-game lead over Santa Margarita with two left.
Santa Margarita 7, Newport Harbor 1--Jim Luster went two for four with two RBIs and Chris Brannen went two for three with two RBIs to lead Santa Margarita (16-7, 11-2).
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 7, Dana Hills 0--Rik Currier, the county’s earned-run average leader, pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Capistrano Valley is 10-14, 5-8.
Mater Dei 9, Mission Viejo 5--Brad Ticehurst had two hits and four RBIs, Josh Townsend had two hits and two RBIs and Mike Kolbach went three for four for No. 2 Mater Dei (17-5, 10-3).
Trabuco Hills 8, San Clemente 2--Ryan Poe had six strikeouts and Jake Anderson had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Trabuco Hills (13-8, 9-4).
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 2, Edison 1--Brandon Steele pitched a one-hitter. Dave Yadrick doubled and Matt Pistilli drove him in with a single in the third inning to give the Oilers (14-10, 7-6) a 2-1 lead.
Marina 3, Esperanza 1--Justin Lynch (9-1) pitched a four-hitter and struck out four for Marina (18-5, 9-3).
