Saudis Close 30 Schools for Foreign Children

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Authorities have shut down more than 30 schools run by foreign diplomatic missions in the Saudi capital, apparently because they were violating local laws, diplomats reported Monday.
About 10,000 expatriate children in Riyadh, mostly Asians and Africans, have been affected, and many foreigners plan to send their families home, said the diplomats, who requested anonymity. No U.S. or British schools were affected.
