OXNARD : Man Robbed of $900 in Home
An Oxnard man told police he was robbed of $900 when an assailant wearing a ski mask walked through his unlocked front door in the Colonia neighborhood and brandished a pistol Wednesday morning.
Samuel Garcia, 36, said he was sleeping about 5 a.m. when he heard the front door open at his home in the 500 block of North Hayes Avenue, police said. Garcia told authorities he thought it was his son coming home and was not alarmed.
But about a minute later, the robber entered Garcia’s bedroom and threatened to kill him unless he turned over all of his cash, police said. Garcia said he initially gave the robber $1,000. But after pleading that he needed money for living expenses, the masked man returned $100, Garcia told police.
There were no witnesses to the robbery. Police searched the neighborhood but no arrests were immediately made.
