Carson’s Title Hopes Reach Dodger Stadium
Carson High will be seeking its first City Section baseball championship when it plays Granada Hills Kennedy in the Division 4-A final at Dodger Stadium tonight at 7:30.
The Colts (23-10) are making their first appearance in the 4-A title game since 1977, when they lost to Reseda Cleveland. Top-seeded Kennedy (26-4) has won three titles since 1981 but none since ’89.
Carson advanced with a 1-0 victory over Woodland Hills El Camino Real on Tuesday. Kennedy, which has scored 32 runs in three playoff games, defeated Wilmington Banning, 15-3, in the semifinals.
The 4-A contest will be preceded by the 3-A championship game between South Gate and Harbor City Narbonne at 4:30 p.m. Narbonne (19-9) is a surprise finalist after rallying for an 8-7 victory over top-seeded Bell on Tuesday. South Gate (25-6) is coming off a 7-5 victory over Franklin.
