WORLD IN BRIEF : GREECE : Rescuers Search for Victims of Quake

Rescue teams with trained dogs sifted through the rubble and workers set up temporary housing after an early morning earthquake in Egion, near Patras, killed at least 16 people and left hundreds homeless. The bodies of nine Greeks were pulled out of an apartment building that police said collapsed like “a house of cards” in the 3:15 a.m. temblor. And five French tourists died when a wing of the Eliki hotel crumbled. Authorities declared about 500 buildings uninhabitable.
