Highfield, Sandstrom Going to Occidental

County football players Tucker Highfield and Scott Sandstrom will enroll in Occidental College this fall, school officials said Monday.

Highfield, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back, played at University last year, gaining 1,301 all-purpose yards. He was a first-team Pacific Coast League selection, and was the team’s MVP.

Sandstrom, a 5-10, 175-pound defensive back, played for Newport Harbor, which won the Southern Section Division V championship. Sandstrom was a first-team Sea View League selection, and voted the team’s most valuable defensive back.
