Mission Viejo quarterback Austin Moherman will transfer...
Mission Viejo quarterback Austin Moherman will transfer to Los Angeles Wilson High School, Darrell Moherman, his father, said.
Moherman said his son’s football future was part of the decision. He also said the move is also due to his relocation for business purposes. He works for a financial services company.
But Moherman said his son was not going to be showcased enough in the Diablo program. Moherman passed for 1,887 yards, seven touchdowns and had 14 passes intercepted last season.
Moherman, a 6-foot-4 sophomore who was held back a year, also was a starter on the basketball team.
“I got strong indications that he was looking for a guarantee that his son to would set certain records,” Diablo football Coach Bill Denny said. “I explained to him that it could not make such guarantees. It would be unethical. I wasn’t going to coach with a calculator in hand.”
Moherman denied he wanted a “guarantee” that his son would set records. He did say he was told by coaches the team would pass 15-20 times per game.

Bethel scored 4,638 points, outdistancing the nearest competitor by 700 points in the two-day event.
She was a first-team selection to The Times Orange County girls’ track and field team last spring after finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles at the State finals in 14.19 seconds. She was fifth in the long jump.
