Deloitte & Touche Appoints Vice Chairman: John T. Cardis, managing partner of the Los Angeles office of the accounting firm, was named to the post. Cardis, 53, was deputy managing partner in charge of firm development at Deloitte & Touche’s national office in Wilton, Conn., before joining the Los Angeles office in 1991. Cardis will retain his position at the Los Angeles office. He joined the firm in 1963 and had served as managing partner of its Pittsburgh and Long Island, N.Y., offices. He was also on the firm’s board from 1986 to 1994. Cardis said he views his appointment as another sign that the Big Six firm is focusing its efforts around key areas and that Southern California, the firm’s second-largest business region, is critically important.
