OXNARD : Suspect in Shooting Held in Juvenile Hall
A teen-ager wanted for more than a month on suspicion of attempted murder remained jailed in Juvenile Hall on Thursday after being arrested by Oxnard police.
The 17-year-old is accused of pistol-whipping and firing several shots at Anthony Fontes, 18, last month. Police arrested the Port Hueneme youth Wednesday night after responding to a landlord-tenant dispute in the 100 block of South C Street.
The youth gave police a false name, but one of the officers recognized him from a wanted poster. Because of the youth’s age, police did not release his name.
Fontes was treated and released from a hospital after the May 19 incident. Investigators said the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Fontes and Chad Keller, 18. Keller and the 17-year-old were riding in a pickup when they spotted Fontes on a bicycle in the 1400 block of Park Avenue.
Keller, who turned himself in 30 minutes after the shooting, was not charged.
