OXNARD : Schools Seek More Parents’ Participation
In an effort to increase parents’ involvement in the education of their children, the Oxnard elementary school district is forming a parent committee to work with the board.
The committee and board would develop programs to instruct parents on how to help their children with homework and how to give them the emotional support they need to do well in school, district officials said.
The board is expected to discuss how to put together the task force during a board meeting tonight at the district office.
District Supt. Bernard Korenstein said he also is putting together a parent committee that will work directly with him in developing similar programs.
Korenstein said he and a group of parents are scheduled to meet July 24. Parents who want to work with the superintendent or the board should contact the district’s office at 487-3918.
