Wilson was one of the great performers from rock’s first decade, a recording artist--like Sam Cooke and Bobby Darin--whose mainstream ambitions pushed him to supper clubs and pop standards, a mix that (as shown in this 1962 package) didn’t always best showcase his marvelous talent.
