Striped Bass Hottest Catch at Lake Skinner

Anglers looking for striped bass should head to Lake Skinner, where the fish have been active throughout the lake.

Anchovies have been the best bait in deep water with good top-water action in the inlet early and in late afternoon.

Louie Lujan of San Jacinto caught a seven-pound striped bass using a Louie Lure in the inlet, and Gary Swanson of San Jacinto landed a seven-pound striped bass on anchovies near the inlet. Catfish have also been biting. Fishing for mackerel has been best at the east end and near the dam. Bass and crappie have been taking night crawlers, plastics and jigs.
