Mishap at Funeral for Boy, 5, Who Drowned
LOWELL, N.C. — Even 5-year-old Ronald Lee Dixon’s funeral had a tragic ending.
Ronald drowned in a swimming pool at a church group outing a week ago.
As family and friends drove to a cemetery Sunday, a motorist barreled into the hearse. The front end of the hearse was crushed and twisted. Five people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
After the collision, police said, a brawl broke out between a passenger in the car that hit the hearse and members of Ronald’s family.
As Ronald’s casket was transferred into a second hearse, the crash victims were removed on stretchers.
